About Us

Rolling Hills Asylum is a historic former poorhouse and infirmary originally established in 1827 and expanded over the decades to serve the residents of Genesee County, New York. The property provided housing and care for the poor, elderly, orphaned, physically disabled, and mentally ill, operating for more than 140 years before closing in 1974. Rich in documented history, the site reflects the evolution of social care in America, from early almshouse conditions to later medical and residential use. Today, Rolling Hills Asylum is recognized as both an important historic landmark and one of the most actively researched paranormal locations in the country. The building has been carefully preserved to maintain its original structure and atmosphere, welcoming visitors, historians, paranormal investigators, and film productions from around the world who seek to explore its history, architecture, and reported unexplained phenomena.
