No Dogs Hike: For the safety of our 4-legged and 2-legged friends, please leave your dogs home and safe. Fellow snowshoe hikers may be more apt to fall and injure themselves if leashes, dogs and humans become entangled.
Please bring: Snowshoes and/or Microspikes, water and a snack. If you were waiting for snow, we got a lot! This hike will allow snowshoers to break trail for “microspikers”. The snowshoes will compact the snow enough for those wearing microspikes to have an easier time traversing the trail. (If you don’t have microspikes, you can purchase at the store, or rent at the trailhead for $10 cash. Rental price can be applied to purchase same day of hike.)
We will begin hiking at 12 noon - we suggest arriving 10 minutes before the hike begins to register and prepare to depart.
For our fourth free hike, join us on the East Side of Letchworth State Park for a fun hike on the Finger Lakes Trail and “The Powerline”. When you see a trail by the name of Powerline, you’re probably thinking it’s not very exciting - and you’d be correct. To make it a LOT more exciting, we’ll be taking you to one of our favorite views in the park, stopping at a Finger Lakes Trail lean to, and traversing one of the park’s many picturesque gullies. We’ll hike approximately 2.5 miles and it will be an easy hike, as Trail 21 has a gentle slope upwards at the end of our trek. If there is snow, it may be more of a moderate hike. Meet at Access D of the Finger Lakes Trail, located on River Road between Rt. 408 and Ridge Road East. Note that portions of River Road are seasonal access, meaning they may be impassable in wintertime.
